Memorial Bird Boxes

We’ve recently installed a number bird boxes around the cemetery and we did not expect them to be so in demand. For a number of years we have watched the birds struggle to find nesting hollows. Although the cemetery has a lot of trees, only a handful are old enough to have hollows.

So this year we decided to install nesting boxes and just see if the birds would take to them.

Within days of their installation the rosellas started to move in, we have one kookaburra box and that only took a day for the kookaburras to call it home.

Next year we would love to get some more boxes up and around the cemetery, but we have limited funds and so many vital projects on the go.

So here is where you can help.

You can sponsor a bird box for $200, we will have a plaque made by Dearly Plaques and Memorials placed on the bird box with your family name, loved ones name or ancestors name.

Your $200 would pay for a bird box, its installation, and the plaque. We will send you a photo of your bird box and a map of where it is located within the cemetery.

This would help the cemetery, our native wildlife and be a beautiful tribute to your loved one or ancestor.

Of course we always welcome donations. Our current projects centre around improvements to the cemetery to ensure sustainability and enhancing the natural environment. We also have some projects focused on the historical aspects of the cemetery which will honour the early pioneers of the area. And we have a special project which we are aiming to reveal on International Women’s Day in March 2024. We want to ensure our historical cemetery remains a beautiful space for our community and native wildlife.
