The Historical Castlemaine Cemetery is a Class B Cemetery managed by volunteer trust members who have been appointed by the Department of Health and Human Services, State Government of Victoria.
Trust members are responsible for
Ensuring the cemetery is operating in compliance with the relevant State Government legislation.
Maintaining accurate records
Financial accountability
Ground maintenance
Liaising with funeral directors/families to arrange burials
Liaising with stone masons
Meeting with members of the public to discuss purchasing a right of interment.
Assisting the public with family history/research enquiries
The Trust holds regular meetings at our heritage listed office at the cemetery.
